Tourism Ireland CEO Niall Gibbons said in a radio interview today that he's "reasonably confident" the entire populations of the UK and Ireland could be vaccinated against COVID-19 by September.
And that if so, tourism could recover in a "meaningful way" by 3Q2021.
Mr. Gibbons said:
“There is a huge pent-up demand to travel...One thing that people will be keen to do is take a holiday. Our job is to make sure we are well-positioned for that and I think the second half of 2021 will see a strong rebound.”
Post-BREXIT, the UK-Ireland Common Travel Area is expected to make it easier for British tourists to visit Ireland vs. mainland Europe.
