Tourism Secretary Fiona Hyslop has invited local authorities and national parks to apply for funding under this initiative, which is aimed primarily at rural areas.

That's consistent with the government's wish to spread tourism over more of the country, and more of the year.

Projects are already underway on Skye and in Orkney.

Any organization that's remotely eligible should apply for these funds.
