Announced features of the UK's first-ever Tourism Sector Deal include:
- Create a Tourism Data Hub intended to allow businesses to improve their targeting of overseas visitors
- Create 10,000 new apprenticeships in tourism and hospitality
- Build 130,000 new hotel rooms, 75% outside London
- New strategy to grow business events and conferences
- Improve broadband connectivity in conference centers
- Make the UK the most accessible destination for disabled visitors
First steps will include the piloting of up to 5 new Tourism Zones, to receive Government support for growing their local tourism economy through product development, marketing and digital skills training.
