In a 22 September speech to EU officials in Florence Theresa May proposed a 2-year "transitional" period beginning when the Brexit trigger is pulled in March 2019.
In her speech Ms. May also reiterated her unwillingness to accept “physical infrastructure at the border” between Ireland and Northern Ireland.
But she offered no plan as to how that might be arranged.
An open border is essential to the tourism industries of both Ireland and NI.
