Today the majority of international travelers who visit Wales do so as an often incidental part of a tour of the UK.
The Doha-Cardiff service scheduled to begin in May 2018 is expected to open Wales tourism up directly to Asia-Pacific markets with connectivity via Doha, including Australia, New Zealand, China, India and Japan.
The 2-year marketing agreement will include promotion to trade and consumers in those markets of Wales as a destination.
Does the tourism ministry of Wales have the horsepower necessary to establish the country as a stand-alone international destination? How will the tourist boards of Ireland, Scotland and England react - cooperatively or competitively?
Stay tuned.
