The Government of the UK has announced plans to stop accepting EU national identity cards in lieu of passports for entry to the UK by 2021.
This change may occur sooner rather than later in the event of a no-deal Brexit.
The Home Office has said that it will announce the final date of this change in advance "to allow travelers good time to plan their trips".
Although long-haul travelers from the USA, China, India and the Gulf states are increasingly visiting the UK, according to VisitBritain, Europeans are concerned about the welcome they will get in the UK as well as the red tape and cost involved in getting passports and visas.
