Major UK tour operator Mark Warner is invoking a 10% surcharge on European ski holidays already booked for winter 2016-2017 because costs of their packages have risen as a result of currency fluctuations and/or increased fuel costs and taxes.
By UK law, operators must absorb the first 2% of increased cost, and the surcharge to customers is limited to 10%.
Mark Warner MD David Hopkins wrote in a letter to customers:
“It will be necessary and unavoidable for us, for the first time in many years, to invoke the surcharge clause contained within our contractual terms and conditions.”
