The US CDC yesterday added France and Portugal to its long list of world countries under Level 4 (Covid-19 Very High) travel advisories, because of spiking cases of the virus.
The CDC encourages Americans to avoid travel to Level 4 countries, and if such travel is necessary, to first be fully vaccinated.
Last week new coronavirus cases increased by 48.93% in France, 15.8% in Portugal.
Other major European tourist destination countries under Level 4 advisories include Germany, the UK, Ireland and Greece.
Canada, Mexico, Italy and Spain are currently at Level 3: COVID-19 High.
