In a media release published Friday 24 June 2022, London-based data analysts GlobalData revealed results of a new global survey which revealed that at 2+ years since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, 57% of world tourists say they are "not concerned" or "not very concerned" about the spread of COVID-19.
However, other challenges to the global tourism industry - including surging demand at a time of labor scarcity - are hindering complete recovery.
GlobalData forecasts that global international departures will reach:
- 68% of 2019 pre-pandemic level in 2022
- 82% in 2023
- 97% in 2024
- 101% in 2025
