Recently introduced regulations require that Irish premises being advertised as hotels be registered with Failte Ireland and meet certain minimum standards of room size, food service, room size, etc.

This is a step in the right direction, but standards surely are minimum, and enforcement is likely going to be lax.

Let's hope no one dies in a fire in one of these unregistered establishments before some tougher regulations and effective enforcement are put into place.
