The US economy added 580,000 jobs in June 2021 beating both May performance (583,000 jobs added) and economists' predictions (+706,000).
Unemployment rate remained essentially unchanged at 5.9%, average hourly wage rose to $30.40, up 0.3% from May, +3.6% from June 2020.
The S&P 500 stock index hit a record high after the jobs report was released on Friday.
The leisure and hospitality sector gained the most jobs in June: 343,000 including 194,000 at food service and drinking establishments as pandemic-related restrictions continued to be eased.
