Visit Orlando President and CEO since 2013, chairman of the Orange County COVID-19 economic recovery taskforce, and former Disney executive George Aguel has announced his intention to retire, as the COVID-19 tourism crisis continues in Florida.

Visit Orlando is funded primarily by a share of hotel taxes, revenues from which have been down more than 90% in the period April-June 2020, leading to staff furloughs and drastic cuts to other operational expenses of the agency.

Aguel's contract with Visit Orlando would otherwise have expired early in 2021.
