US FERC has killed the application for a LNG terminal at Robbinston, ME for lack of progress.
The project, originally proposed by Downeast LNG 10 years ago, has been opposed for 10 years since Day 1 by the Save Passamaquoddy Bay Canada and Save Passamaquoddy Bay 3-Nation Alliance organizations because of its proximity to the town of St. Andrews, New Brunswick.
The decision by FERC doesn't preclude Downeast LNG from resubmitting the project, but those opposed believe that's unlikely to happen.
In any case, the Canadian government has banned LNG tankers from entering Head Harbor Passage, which is the only route of access to the proposed terminal site.
