Somerville won't pursue legal battle with Wynn Boston Harbor casino

Somerville Mayor Joe Curtatone has announced that the city won't continue to pursue its challenge to the Wynn casino's environmental permit.

The project has received the necessary Chapter 91 license from the Mass. DEP, and construction has begun.

Curtatone says he was able to gain some concessions from the casino developers including a provision for 50 years of ferry service designed to mitigate increased automobile traffic, as well as additional public space within the project's footprint.
