Per this report released yesterday by the Irish Central Statistics Office, in the period July-September 2016 overseas visits to Ireland were up 10.5% from the same period 12 months previous.
Some key numbers:
- 3,061,500 total overseas visits to Ireland - up 10.5% year-on-year
- 1,148,500 (38%) from Great Britain - up 9.3%
- 1,085,300 (35%) from Europe - up 10.0%
- 637,500 (21%) from North America - up 15.9%
- 190,200 (6%) from other areas - up 3.7%
- Trips abroad by Irish residents increased by 3.0% to 2,252,900.
Visits from the UK held up in the period July-September despite the post-referendum weakness and instability of the GBP. Visits from both the UK and North America were up from 2015 levels in each of the 3 calendar quarters of 2016 to date.
