Aer Lingus's Dublin-Miami route will likely be carrying mainly Irish holidaymakers headed for Orlando or the Florida beaches.
For tourists, Basel offers 300 days/year of sunshine, fall foliage, art, cuisine, good public transport, symphony orchestra and flea-market shopping.
And Vienna boasts its Art Week, Fashion Week, State Opera and Ballet, horse racing, designer souvenirs, sightseeing tours and more.
Basel and Vienna are about 400 miles apart, so quick air trips could be popular going in either direction. Tourists could go by train for less than 50 euro, but the trip takes 9 hours.
