Tourism Ireland is trying to find ways to retain and grow inbound tourism from the UK in the face of Brexit and the devalued GBP.
Actor Mark Hamill will be appearing in ads before Christmas.
The Irish tourist board will be specifically targeting the "culturally curious" market segment - largely mature people who have lots of disposable income and whose travel plans are less likely to be affected by exchange rates.
The UK has traditionally been the source of 40% of Ireland's international visitation - but that statistic is down by 6% so far this year. Tourism Ireland is also running major marketing campaigns in North America, mainland Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
