In a post on gofundme.com South Portland ME landlord (landperson?) Margaret Birlem says in part:
"South Portland is perilously close to passing a ban on almost all short term rentals in the city. This egregious ordinance is scheduled to go into effect on 4/15/2018 ...Please join our group as we raise funds to fight this battle in court. A core group of us have already contributed $5000 and have pledged to contribute to a second round of funding but we need to call on our fellow neighbors and short term rental owners in South Portland to join our cause..."
The proposed ordinance would among other things ban short-term rentals in residential zones, and in buildings with 3 or more dwelling units.
That's much tougher than the ordinance recently proposed for the City of Boston.
