As of 16 March 2018, all of Mexico is under US travel advisories of at least Level 2: Exercise increased caution.

Five states - Colima, Guerrero, Michoacan, Sinaloa and Tamaulipas - are under advisories at (highest) Level 4: Do not travel.

Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango, Estado de Mexico, Jalisco, Morelos, Nayarit, Nuevo Leon, San Luis Potosi, Sonora and Zacatecas are under advisories at Level 3: Reconsider travel.

The State Department also advises:

"The U.S. government has limited ability to provide emergency services to U.S. citizens in many areas of Mexico as U.S. government employees are prohibited from travel to these areas."

This is a tough situation for Mexico tourism. Per TradingEconomics.com:

"Tourist Arrivals in Mexico decreased to 1971.24 Thousand in January [2018] from 2682.33 Thousand in December of 2017."
