An Amtrak spokesperson has said that the railroad will be unable to conduct a necessary risk assessment of the 58 miles of track that would be involved prior to summer 2018.

This is a disappointing result for the Maine Lobster Festival and other Rockland businesses.

Amtrak has sort of said they'll try again in 2019.

Too bad for Rockland.

President Trump has proposed slashing Amtrak's federal subsidy by nearly half to $738M for the fiscal year that begins 1 October 2018. That doesn't bode well for train service in end-of-the-line places like Maine and Vermont.
