Boston has always had the problem of a Railroad Disconnect. Train service to and from points north of the city uses North Station, while that to and from points south uses South Station - more than 2 miles away. Getting from one railway station to the other by subway requires a change of trains.

The Massachusetts Convention Center Authority (MCCA) has issues an RFP for high-speed ferry service from Lovejoy Wharf near North Station to the South Boston Seaport District. (The Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, which is run by the MCCA, is in the Seaport District.)

Project would be funded by major Boston companies that currently ar running shuttle buses to get their employees to and from work. But unlike the shuttle buses, the ferry service would also be available to the general public. Trip would be about 13 minutes. No pricing has been published.

Potential benefits to tourism of this ferry link need to be studied. There must be some kind of opportunity here.
