Quoting from the Airbnb media release:
"Today at Airbnb’s headquarters, Puerto Rico Governor Ricardo Rosselló and Airbnb Co-Founder, CEO and Head of Community Brian Chesky announced a new partnership to drive tourism to the Island and support the region as it builds back after Hurricane Maria."
Chesky says that in Puerto Rico Airbnb will:
- Launch Airbnb Experiences
- Donate its fees for trips booked in Puerto Rico for the next 3 months to local hurricane-recovery non-profits
- In partnership with the Puerto Rico Tourism Company, mount a destination-marketing campaign.
The destination-marketing campaign will include a dedicated landing page on Airbnb's website. an e-mail campaign, and social-media promotions.
Today, 9 months after Hurricane Maria, 16000 homes on the island are still without power.
Let's hope that Airbnb will be able to do some good for the people of Puerto Rico.
