Northern Maine Development Corporation

NMDC and MDOT are working on establishing a 320-mile, permanent, federally designated bike route using existing roads and trails from the existing US Bicycle Route in Bangor to the International Bridge in Fort Kent.

NMDC says there will be no cost to communities for this.

They're hosting a free workshop on this at the Presque Isle Rec Center 9 AM - 1 PM on 7 November 2018.

If these roads are safe for cyclists, and the route is promoted, this bike trail could induce some out-of-state tourists who are visiting southern Maine to extend their trips up north.
