Out of concerns stemming from the very heavy use this Holiday season of Highway 1 in Big Sur - cars jockeying for position on every square inch of road shoulder at scenic overlooks and popular hiking spots - members of the Coast Properties Owners Association (CPOA) turned out at roadside with signs like the one pictured, begging motorists not to ruin their piece of California.
This kind of congestion poses a serious dilemma for a community as a whole - while the CPOA people would probably be happy to be left alone to enjoy Big Sur, a lack of visitors would certainly disappoint those local people who are running area restaurants and retail establishments.
