The Wyoming Senate Travel Committee has voted to advance House Bill 66 to the Appropriations Committee - the last hurdle prior to a vote of the full Senate.
The bill would impose a 5% statewide lodging tax - WY currently has none - that would produce about $32M in revenue annually, that would be dedicated to tourism promotion.
Currently the Wyoming Tourism Office has a non-dedicated annual budget of around a $12.5M which comes from the General Fund.
