The National Park Service has announced that Acadia National Park's new overtourism-fightiing Transportation Plan to be put into place for summer 2019 will include a "timed-entry reservation system" giving reservation holders a specific time window in which they can enter specific areas of the Park including Ocean Drive, Cadillac Summit Road and the Jordan Pond North Lot. Park management will be able to adjust the size of entry windows, which are expected to run from about 15 minutes to 2 hours in duration. Once in, there's no limit on length of stay. Only visitors arriving by motor vehicle will be affected, not cyclists or pedestrians. The Park also plans to improve cellphone reception for visitors wanting to use ride-sharing services.
