US BLS reported this morning that US nonfarm employment rose by 225,000 in January (vs. an average monthly gain of 175,000 in 2019), while the unemployment rate remained virtually unchanged at 3.6%.
Biggest job gains were in construction, health care and transportation and warehousing.
Leisure and hospitality jobs increased by 36,000 in January and by 390,000 over the past 12 months.
Average hourly non-farm earnings in January rose by $0.07 to $28.44.
