In his State of the Travel Industry address delivered at the National Press Club in DC last week, USTA President Roger Dow outlined a set of strategies that USTA will pursue in 2020 and beyond to grow and strengthen the US travel industry:
- Promote travel as an export, and ensure that the travel industry has a voice in trade negotiations with China, Japan, the EU and the UK
- Enhance security via biometric innovation, improved REAL ID policy, alleviate security chokepoints and expand trusted traveler programs
- Spur pro-travel commerce by promoting economic incentives, improving the US tax code, pushing for investment in infrastructure and the National Parks, and accelerating advances in travel mobility
- Promote a sustainable travel industry through solutions like Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport's carbon-neutrality initiative, Colorado's Colo-ready program, and Visit California' Destination Stewardship plan.
