Analysis of the Dublin hotel market by Failte Ireland finds that 18 new hotels, 5 extensions and 7 apart-hotels currently in the pipeline could add more than 15,000 rooms in the next 3-5 years.
There are currently around 18,000 hotel rooms at 250 hotels in Dublin, and occupancy is running around 82%.. Earlier, Failte Ireland had projected that 5000 new rooms would be needed by 2021.
Construction of housing for residents is being adversely impacted by financial incentives that favor projects to build hotel and student accommodations.
