US State Department Travel Advisories: March update

US Department of State

Travel advisories set or updated by the US State Department since 1 March 2020 include:

  • Haiti: Level 4 - Do not travel - Crime, civil unrest, kidnapping
  • Azerbaijan: Level 3 - Reconsider travel - Significant increase in COVID-19 cases emanating from Iran border, and responsive measures by the Government of Azerbaijan
  • Turkmenistan: Level 3 - Reconsider travel - Travel restrictions and quarantine procedures instituted by the Government of Turkmenistan in response to COVID-19
  • Egypt: Level 2 - Exercise increased caution - Terrorism and the Embassy's limited ability to assist dual US-Egypt citizens if arrested or detained. Do not travel to the Western Desert, border areas, or the Sinai Peninsula except for Sharm El-Sheikh by air.
  • Tuvalu: Level 1: Exercise normal precautions - Government of Tuvalu prohibits entry of anyone who has been in China or any "high risk country" (where COVID-19 is present) in the past 30 days.
  • Marshall Islands: Level 1: Exercise normal precautions - No confirmed cases of COVID-19 but all incoming international air travel is suspended until 22 March. All travel to and from PRC, Hong Kong, Macau, South Korea, Italy, Japan and Iran is suspended, and travelers who have visited or transited these countries after 31 December 2019 will be denied entry. All cruise ship visits are suspended. All passengers arriving and all residents departing must show documentation of up-to-date measles immunization.

Level 4: Do not travel advisories set earlier remain in effect for these countries:

  • Iran
  • China
  • Iraq
  • Mali
  • Central African Republic
  • Venezuela
  • Yemen
  • South Sudan
  • Burkina Faso
  • Syria
  • Somalia
  • Afghanistan
  • DPR Korea
  • Libya

The State Department has set or updated a total of 40 travel advisories since 1 January 2020.
