ME Gov. Janet Mills announced yesterday that beginning 1 July "...adults [from outside the Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont region] who obtain and receive a negative COVID-19 test no later than 72 hours prior to arrival [may] forgo the 14-day quarantine upon arrival in Maine...Individuals may be tested upon arrival in Maine as well, but they must quarantine while awaiting the results."
(We believe the Governor means "no earlier than 72 hours prior to arrival".)
Details (paraphrase):
- Visitors from outside ME-NH-VT will be asked to sign a Certificate of Compliance in which they attest that:
- They have received a negative COVID-19 test result, or
- They will quarantine in Maine for 14 days, or
- They have already completed 14-day quarantine in Maine.
- These visitors must provide this Certificate to operators of all commercial lodgings (including Airbnbs, etc.) at check-in.
- Visitors must provide proof of negative testing if so requested.
- Maine DHS will be asking visitors in "high-traffic places in tourist destinations" about any COVID-19 symptoms they may have, and providing advice on staying well.
- Maine DOT will be posting signs instructing people to stay at home or seek medical care if they develop symptoms of COVID-19.
- The State will provide up to $13M in incentives to municipalities for local prevention and education plans.
