The Maine Association of Agricultural Fairs (MAAF) has announced that, because of the COVID-19 pandemic and limitations on the size of gatherings imposed by the Mills Administration, 21 of 26 annual Maine fairs - including favorites like the Bangor State Fair, Maine Farm Days and the Common Ground, Cumberland, Fryeburg, Topsham and Windsor Fairs - will not be held in 2020.
The only fairs still considering running in 2020 are Farmington, New Portland Lions, Oxford County, Skowhegan and Springfield. All of these except for Skowhegan (22-29 August) are scheduled to be held in September.
MAAF is encouraging its members to hold virtual fairs in 2020.
