The Ireland Central Statistics Office reported this morning that overseas arrivals to Ireland in June 2020 were down 97.1% year-on-year, and year-to-date arrivals were down 65.9%.
Departures were also down very significantly:
70% of the 57,100 arrivals 32,300 came by cross-channel routes, 18,300 by continental route, 3800 by transatlantic routes and 2700 by other overseas routes.
Top countries of origin were:
- UK 32,300
- Netherlands 4400
- Germany 3900
Also today, state airport company DAA told legislators that persons from countries not on Ireland's "Green List" should prove they have tested negative for COVID-19 before coming.
Some of Ireland's major tourism source countries - including the UK and the US - aren't on the Green List.
Irish tourism revenues are forecast to be down by €7B in 2020.
