Visit Orlando has tapped Visit Antonio CEO Cassandra Matej to replace retiring President and CEO George Aguel.

Aguel had announced his intention to retire in August, to spend more time with family.

Previously, Matej held positions at VisitDallas, Starwood Hotels and Hyatt Hotels.

Matej's immediate responsibility in her new job will be to help Orlando rebound from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Visit Orlando is a DMO paid for from a share of hotel taxes, revenues from which have been down more than 90% since April 2020.

Matej will be paid $395K for her first year, with the possibility of performance bonuses in future years.

Aguel was paid more than $630K last year.
