According to a report entitled Monitoring Sentiment for Domestic and Intra-European Travel - Wave 4 released today by the European Travel Commission, 32% of European survey respondents said they intend to take a trip during April-June 2021 - up 20% from a similar survey taken in November - and 52% said they intend to travel in the next 6 months.
More findings:
- 40% plan to travel to another European country, 36% to travel in their home country.
- Top reasons for travel:
- Leisure (63%)
- VFR (21%)
- Business (9%)
- Confidence in air travel has increased: 52% said they are now willing to fly, vs. 49% in a similar September done in September.
- 67% said that strict health and safety protocols allow them to feel safe enough to travel.
- But COVID-19-related concerns remain:
- Quarantining (15%)
- Rise in infections at the destination (14%)
- Falling ill while traveling (14%)
- Older Europeans are making more travel-related use of social media:
- Age 55-65 (+86%)
- Over 65 (+136%)
