The Save Future Travel Coalition - consisting of trade groups from across the UK travel and aviation industries - is planning a Travel Industry Day of Action (hashtag #traveldayofaction) for 23 June with the intent of influencing the UK government to permit international to restart travel for summer 2021.
The next review of country rankings in the UK Traffic Light System - that determines which countries' residents have to quarantine upon entering the UK - is set for 28 June.
The US, Canada and most European nations and territories are currently on the AMBER list, meaning their residents are required to quarantine. Residents of any countries moved to the GREEN list on 28 June will be able to enter the UK without quarantining.
The Save Future Travel Coalition is making these demands on the UK government:
- Permit safe international travel to return by implementing the Global Travel Taskforce plan
- Make available financial support which recognizes that businesses operating in international markets will recover more slowly than those doing domestic business
Industry representatives plan to organize a lobby of the Houses of Parliament for 23 June, and also to organize events across the UK, targeting the devolved legislatures in Edinburgh and Belfast and attracting media attention.
