Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers has announced awards of $14M+ in grants to movie theaters, summer camps and minor-league sports teams.
Gov. Evers said:
“Unfortunately, like many businesses in our tourism industry, these folks have been hit particularly hard by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. This investment will continue to help fuel our state's recovery and ensure a strong rebound for our local communities.”
The grants are part of a $140M investment program to support the recovery of Wisconsin's tourism and entertainment industries from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In this second round of grants, the Movie Theater Assistance Grant Program provided approximately $15,000 per screen to 49 theater companies.
The Summer Camp Assistance Program provided $50,000 to each of 37 summer camps to offset losses resulting from the pandemic.
The Minor League Sports Teams Grant Program provided a total of $2.8M to 17 minor-league teams to help offset revenue lost during the pandemic.
All 3 programs are funded by the federal American Rescue Plan Act and administered by the Wisconsin Department of Administration.
