The Nebraska Tourism Commission reports that the agency's self-deprecating "Nebraska: Honestly, It's not for Everyone" campaign launched in October 2018 contributed to a record-breaking $3.5B tourism spend in the state in 2019.
Although tourism spend dropped to $1.5B in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, officials believe 2021 spend will set yet another new record. Low population density over much of the state is credited for high visitation rates in 2021.
