The Florida Senate this week voted 36-1 to extend financing for state DMO Visit Florida to October 2031 as proposed under Senate Bill 434 introduced by Commerce and Tourism Committe Chair Sen. Ed Hooper (R-Clearwater).
Visit Florida is funded at $50M in the state's current FY budget. A House subcommittee has recommended matching that figure in the next FY which will begin 1 July 2022.
Scandals in past years came close to causing the shuttering of Visit Florida. But a 2021 report by the FL Legislature Office of Economic and Demographic Research which found that Visit Florida returns $3.27 in revenues to the State for each $1 invested is credited for the swift passage of S 434.
