March 2024 US arrivals up 12.6%, departures up 15.4% YOY
The US National Travel and Tourism Office (NTTO) reported today that in March 2024 US inbound international arrivals increased for the 36th consecutive month, recovering to 94.2% of pre-COVID level.
Of the top 20 US international tourism source market countries, only Canada reported a lower volume of visitors in 2024 vs. 2023: -3.0%
Top March 2024 source markets - accounting for 65.7% of arrivals - were:
- Canada, with 2.03M visitors
- Mexico 1.16M
- UK 330K
- Germany 193K
- Japan 159K
International departures from the US in March 2024 totaled 9.01M or 107.6% of March 2019 level.
Outbound destinations were: Mexico + Canada 49.1%, overseas 50.9%.
Top regional outbound markets were:
- Mexico and Caribbean 55.9%
- Europe 16.7%
