Some tour operators are reporting Scotland business up by 30% this year, and lodging properties in Skye report having to turn people away.

Weak GBP following the 2016 Brexit referendum vote, inclusion in Rough Guide's top-10 countries list, and TV series Outlander are all credited with contributing to increased tourism business in summer 2017.

At least some Americans are likely seeing Scotland as "Ireland at a discount" this year.
