US inbound travel spend reached 94.7% of all-time record in January 2024
New data released by the US National Travel and Tourism Office (NTTO) show that in January 2024:
- International visitors spent nearly $19.7B, up 23% from January 2023 and the highest level since December 2019.
- For the 7th straight month, the US had a balance of travel trade surplus ($638M in January 2024).
- US travel and tourism exports accounted for 23% of service exports and 7.7% of all exports.
- International visitors spent $11.4B within the US on lodging, food, recreation, entertainment, local transportation, gifts and other travel-related goods and services.
- US carriers received $3.5B in fares from international visitors.
