Of the top 50 inbound country markets, these had the largest year-on-year arrival gains in the period 1 January - 31 May 2018:
- Brazil +30.0% (from a low base related to economy)
- Ireland +17.8% (perhaps related to increased airline connectivity)
- Poland +12.6%
And these had the largest shrinkages:
- Russia -10.5% (probably related to economy, and tensions over US presidential election)
- Finland -5.0%
- Japan -3.7%
Visitation from Venezuela - the only top-50 country impacted by the current Trump travel ban - was up 4.9%.
Also Trump-related: although visitation from mainland China (PRC) was down 1.4%, that from Mexico was up 11.5%.
Looks like all is not lost for US tourism.
