Mission is to create a more welcoming city
Boston Mayor Michelle Wu has announced that Dorchester native John Borders IV will lead the city's Department of Tourism, Sports and Entertainment.
Mr. Borders' mission will be to help to advance the new vision of creating a more welcoming City by proactively attracting the meetings, events, conventions, and festivals that amplify Boston’s rich cultural diversity and bring people together, working with Meet Boston, the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority, and the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Borders will also oversee the process of film and TV production in the City.
Mr. Borders most recently served as principal of consulting firm VTH & Madison, and was previously an account executive at Everfi and before that Senior Manager of Community Engagement for the Boston Celtics. He is ma graduate of Morehouse College.
