The 9 announced candidates for Governor of Maine who've publicly expressed an opinion on the York County casino referendum vote have all said they'd vote against it.

And many legislators are moaning and wringing their hands over the way the referendum process has been hijacked by get-rich-quick gaming entrepreneur Shawn Scott.

But the reality is: Scott has played by the rules created by the Legislature, and if this deal goes south, our lawmakers have only themselves to blame.

A minimal voter turnout is likely in November, except maybe in York County.

Anyone who has an opinion on this question should vote, or be prepared to accept the consequences of inertia.
