The South Boston Allied Veterans Council - organizers of the South Boston St. Patrick's Day parade since 1948 - have announced that because of the MA COVID-19 restriction on outdoor gatherings to 25 people, no parade will march in 2021.
Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh canceled out of caution - prudently, as it's turned out - the 2020 parade on 9 March 2020 when there were only 91 presumptive cases of COVID-19 in Massachusetts. More than a million spectators had been expected.
