Oliver Ciesla of WRC Promoter said in a meeting last week that moving the rebranded Wales Rally GB - A World Apart to Belfast for 2020 and rotating the location around the UK after that is "vital for the rally's future."
The rally route for 2019 in Wales will be announced, and tickets will go on sale, sometime later this month.
North Wales tourism supremo Jim Jones said in a statement that moving the rally away from Llandudno would mean loss of international media coverage that brings tourists to the area, and have great adverse economic impact on the local economy.
