Bay Ferries

On 11 July 2018 Bay Ferries submitted to the Town of Bar Harbor a proposal for entering into a 5-year lease of the Town's terminal facilities beginning in 2019. Bay Ferries, with a subsidy from the Province of Nova Scotia, would invest US$3M in the existing port facilities. A condition of going forward with the proposal is agreement on specifics of the Town, the Province and Bay Ferries on or before 1 October 2018.

From 1997 to 2006, Bay Ferries operated a Bar Harbor - Yarmouth route which it claims was unsubsidized and profitable.

Will everybody - including 2 governments - be able to agree by 1 October? Stay tuned.
