Amtrak CEO Richard Anderson says the raiload could end service on both Vermonter and Ethan Allen Express routes by the end of 2018.
There have been several derailments and train-car crashes in Vermont.
Vermont Tourism Commissioner Wendy Knight expressed concern over possible loss of train service, but local opinion on the value of the Amtrak trains to tourism is mixed.
I'm with Commissioner Knight on this one: a lot of people like to ride on trains, and once at the destination they're a captive audience.
