Amtrak Downeaster gets $27M in federal funds
The Northern New England Passenger Rail Authority - which operates the Amtrak Downeaster train between Boston and Brunswick, ME - has announced receipt of an award of $27,492,000 in federal funding.
Funds will be used for track improvements that will permit trains to run at higher speeds, reducing travel time.
The Downeaster makes 5 trips daily between Boston and Brunswick, with stops at:

- Exeter, NH
- Durham, NH
- Dover, NH
- Wells, ME
- Saco, ME
- Portland, ME
- Freeport, ME
Boston-Brunswick round-trip fare is $60.
